The institute values cooperations with several institutions and organizations that share the same interests including Turkish Ministry of Health, Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Turkish Ministry of Environment and Forestry, municipalities and universities by developing several research programs.
The institute attributes utmost importance to collaborations with other international institutions doing research in the same area in order to closely follow the most recent developments in the field, and try to make new collaborative research projects under the auspices of inter-governmental research agreements in the area of scientific research.
Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute is the main institution in Turkey, which establishes international collaborations in the field of genetic engineering and biotechnology. It has been confirmed as an excellence center for "Third World Academy of Science (TWAS)" and has also been affiliated with "International Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB-Trieste). Additionally, the institute had been the main collaborator of European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Turkey until 2005.
